Fleet System Rules

Rules
Welcome to the new, Arjuna Dragons Freespace 2 Fleet System! This is a new battle system we are instituting for members of the Arjuna Dragons Squadron. Due to the lack of support at squadwars, we have created this all-new system that is far better than squad wars. I will explain the Rules Below. Remember the system is not up and fully functional yet. So bear with us while we get it all done. Thank you for your patience. Now, on to the Fleet System!

Fleet System Overview

First things first, how does this work? Well you need to set up your Fleet System account. Simply speak with AD-Cypher or AD-Hunter about doing this.

Now you may be wondering, what is my fleet? Well let me explain. This is a battle oriented war system. Quite simple really. You will each be given meseta at the start. 1000 meseta to be exact. You will use these meseta to buy yourselves ships from the list below. That will be your fleet, your army. You will be its leader, its general. The point of this game is to become more powerful and get a greater fleet. To do this you challenge other players to Fleet Battles. In this battle you both battle your fleets, the winner gets more points to make a bigger fleet, while the loser licks his wounds and pays to repair his fleet. Of course, the winner also has to pay repair costs as well. Now here are a couple of rules on designing your fleets:

1. You may not have more than 3 fighter wings in your fleet.
2. Aside from that you may not have more than 5 cruiser size ships or 3 destroyer size. Cruiser size includes corvettes, and destroyer size includes Juggernaughts.
3. You have 500 reserved meseta for repairs at start, so dont worry about wasting your 1000 points.
4. When a ship in your fleet is destroyed you must pay to have it repaired within 24 hours of its destruction or you will lose it permanently.
5. You may only Fly a ship you have bought, make sure you buy a ship for yourself.
6. You may only have 2 Shivan capital ships in you fleet at any given time.

Sectors and Nodes

As you see above, there are sectors and nodes that can be captured. These are part of the whole Galaxy which you are trying to conquer. Withing each sector(represented by the green borders) there are nodes. When a challenge is made it is made against a node within a sector. The challenger takes the node if he wins, if he loses he does not lose any nodes. You will recieve 100 meseta a week for each node you hold. 50 will be reserved and 50 for you to use . Empty nodes can also be challenged. You may only challenge one node per week. Your home node may never be taken, ensuring you always have at least one node.

All the players will begin with a home node within the first system, in the center of the Galaxy. From there will you conquest begin. You will move out, node by node, to other systems if you wish, or to challenge enemies within your own system. You can only travel between adjacent nodes. So you cannot enter another system unless you have an adjacent node to go through.

Meseta

Now, the awarding of Meseta will work in the following manner. It is simple, and makes it fair, and goes by the cost of your fleet compared to the cost of the enemy's fleet. K/R, or K divided by R. K being the Meseta cost of the ships you killed, divided by R, the ratio between the costs of both fleets. This ratio comes from dividing the cost of your fleet by the cost of the enemy fleet. Here are some examples:

a) My fleet is worth 12000(yay Hecate), and I attack Hunter, whose fleet is worth 1000 Meseta. So, divide 12000 by 1000 and you get 12. So, say I killed 900 worth of Hunter's fleet. Divide 900 by 12, giving me a pathetic 75 Meseta. You would only get 75 because my 12000 fleet is WAY stronger than Hunter's 1000 fleet.

b) My 1000 Fleet attacks Vihor's 1200 fleet. Ok, 1000/1200=0.834. Now pretend that I killed all 1200. 1200/.834=1438.9. Here I get more Meseta because I am attacking a slightly more expensive, and stronger opponent.
c) At the beginning of fleet reset, my 1000 fleet attacks Day's 1000 fleet. Well, 1000/1000=1. So, say I killed 900. 900/1=900. I get the "normal" amount because we are even. The greater the difference between our fleet costs, the more or less you win.
Your Meseta will be kept one total sum that can be distributed throughout your empire.

Buying New Ships/Upgrade/Trade-Ins

Now, when you want a new ship for your fleet, you go to you fleet management area and buy something you can afford, this will be added to your fleet. Now remember there are limitations on how many of each type you can have so make sure you pay attention to what your buy ing.

Now, you may not always want to buy a new ship or may not have enough money to do so. So you may choose to upgrade your ship instead. Now, what is an upgrade? Well, in Fred 2 all ships are assigned an AI class, or rank. Along with your upgrade of the AI class you also get the ability to upgrade the weapons on your ship. With each upgrade you are llowed something new, with you first you can set the primaries on said ship, with the second, you get on secondary change, and with the third upgrade you may alter all weapons as you see fit. All ships in the fleet system will be set by default to Captain. Now, depending on your ships AI class they will evade better, fight better, and pay more attention to orders. Above captain you may upgrade your ships 3 more levels. Those are Major, Colonel, and General. Now to upgrade each ship or wing, you will need to pay half the total cost of each ship or wing you wish to upgrade. Now this is cumulative, this means when you upgrade a second time, you will be able to upgrade at the upgrade cost of the ship or wing PLUS the upgrade. Meaning if you upgrade your Orion from captain to Major, it will cost 2,500. But if you want to upgrade from Major to Colonel it will cost half of the your ships worth, in this case the Orion at 5,000 plus the previous upgrade 2,500 for a total of 7,500. You will have to pay half of that, 3,750.

Now if you run out of room and you want a new ship, or cant afford a new ship because you need a little more meseta you can always perform a trade-in. In doing this, you sell a ship or wing back to the Fleet System for its full worth minus the upgrade costs. So you will get what you originally payed for it. This is a good way to get some extra meseta and make room for the new artillery.

Also, we have added gas miners to the new Fleet. You may now purchase gas miners to increase you productivity in a system. Each one has a percentage by which it increases productivity of your systems. Remember, each system has resources, that is where your meseta come from. All systems have a base of 100, but depending on the miner you buy for you system, productivity will increase. There are 3 types of Miners: 1- Statis: cost 200 M, it would give you 10% plus gass2- Anuket: cost 700 M it would give you 50% plus gass3- Rahu: cost 1500M it would give you 100% plus gass These will also be listed on the prices page.

Repairs

Now this part is vital. When you go into a battle chances are some of your ships will be destroyed. But instead of losing them for good you have the option to repair them. This will cost you only half of the ships original worth. At the start of the game you will have 400 meseta set apart exclusively for repairs. You CANNOT waste this on new ships. Later in the game it will be your job to set apart money for repairs. Remember, think strategy, you will need repairs so dont blow all your money on pretty new guns.

Victory

The victor is determined when one of the players has either lost his entire fleet or sent them back. In other words, when one of the players in the battle is the last remaining person in his fleet, he loses.

Making Challenges/No Shows/Challenging Results

When you decide you are ready to battle simply go to the Fleet Message Board. There you may post a challenge and propose a date and time. The challenged player must accept the challenge for it to be considered valid. When the challenge is completed and a victor emerges it should be announced on the fleet board. The victor is required to do nothing. Remember, after each match, check the mission kills by ship type for your enemy. The Defender has the ability to choose a formation for his fleet at no extra cost, while the attacker must pay 50 meseta for this option. Waypoints may be purchsed at 10 meseta per waypoint. NOTE: YOU MAY ONLY USE A WAYPOINT ONCE! This is based entirely on an honor system. It is also recommended that all matches be hosted on a server. If no server is available then the challenged player is allowed to host.

In the event of a no show, the person who does not show will automatically forfeit the match unless he gives notice of his inability to show beforehand. If he does give notice the match maybe rescheduled, cancelled, or substituted depending on what is decided by both parties. If he chosses to substitute this mean he can give control of his fleet to the AI, in which case orders for his fleet can be programmed beforehand into the mission. If he does not give notice beforehand, he forfeits and the other side is declared victor by default.
If you believe a match was played unfairly or results were reported were incorrect you may choose to challenge the match. Post any match results you wish to challenge on the boards. It will be handled by council members.

Other

We have added Kamikaze option to fleet system Via the Aten Class Cruiser. You may purchase and Aten Class Cruiser for 200 Meseta, and increase its damage 50 points per 1 meseta you give to retrofit said vehicle.

Overview:

This is a shortened version of the above rules, with any rules that have been added:

1) Any player entering Fleet System starts with 1000 Meseta, and 500 Reserved Meseta.

2) The maximum number of warships allowed per fleet is 5. Of those 5, 2 may be Shivan warships. The minimum number of warships is 1.

3) There is a maximum of wings allowed per fleet is 3. Both fighter and bomber wings count towards the same limit of 3.

4) When a warship is destroyed, it is considered 'damaged'. Damaged warships may not participate in battles. In order to 'revive' a damaged ship, you must pay half its cost in Meseta, from your reserved Meseta or normal Meseta pools. Both the winner AND the loser must pay for repairs. Fighter and Bomber wings repair for free. You have until the end of the current phase to repair a ship.

5) You may only command your fleet. You do not fight yourself, although you will be given a pegasus stealth fighter. If you have any kills you will automatically lose the match.

6) You may have 1 Fleet per sector you control nodes in.

7) Every node you own gives you 50 normal and 50 reserved Meseta each week.

8) If you own all the nodes in a sector, you get 10 extra Meseta for each node in that sector.

9) A fleet may either move into another sector, or make an attack each week. A fleet may defend an unlimited amount of times per week, as long as it hasn't moved in the same week.

10) A fleet may only be attacked by one player at a time. If wish to attack someone who has already been attacked, you must wait until they play the match, UNLESS the player you are attacking has more than one fleet in the sector, in which case he must use that second fleet to defend against the second attack.

10) There is NO prize money from winning a battle.

11) If you own all the nodes in a sector, you get 10 extra meseta for each node in that sector

12) To upgrade the AI of a ship, it costs half of its current price. To upgrade a Herc2 once, it costs 25M, half of its cost(50M), giving the Herc2 an AI level of Major. The Herc2 also now costs 75...so to upgrade it a 2nd time, it costs half of 75.

13) Fighter and Bomber wings with an AI rank of 'Major' may choose their primary(including turret) weapons. Wings with an AI rank of Colonel may change one secondary weapon bank, in addition to primaries. Wings with a rank of General may change any of the weapons on their ships. For simplicity, all ships in a wing must have the same weapons loadout. Warships with a higher AI rank will fire their beams more often, move faster and react faster.

14) All warships/fighters/bombers start with an AI rank of Captain.

15) Challenges will be made in the "Challenges/Movement" thread. When you issue a challenge, the challenger can not change his fleet until after the match. The defender may not change his fleet once he accepts the challenge, until after the match.

16) If the attacker or defender does not show for a match without previously saying that you cannot make it, the other player automatically wins, and may win a node, depending on if he attacked or defended. If by the end of the week, a challange is not accepted, the challenger automatically wins, unless the challengee has previously said that he will be away for the week.

17) Having a Moloch in your fleet allowes you to have an extra wing, since the Moloch sucks, and it is the only corvette with a fighterbay.

18) The defender may change the formation of his fleet for any match. The attacker must pay 50 Meseta to be able to change his formation.

19) You may buy waypoints for your ships to follow in a match. Each waypoint costs 10 Meseta, and waypoints are only good for 1 match.

20) Gas miners may be purchased for any sector you own, and come in wings. All nodes in a sector containing a Gas miner generate a specified % more Meseta(Anuket=10%, Rahu=50%, Zephyrus=100%[double Meseta] and Arcadia=200%[Triple Meseta]). Any battles fought in a sector will include Gas miners behind or beside the defender's fleet. If a miner wing is destroyed in a battle, it is considered 'destroyed' and no longer generates extra Meseta. Because of the high-explosive gases which some miners contain, miners that explode are damaged beyond repair, and therefore cannot be repaired.

21) When you accuire nodes in another sector, you may create a second fleet. If you then lose the nodes in that second sector, you may still keep your 2nd Fleet. BUT, if you re-take nodes in the same 2nd sector, you may NOT create a 3rd fleet, since you already have a fleet for that sector.

23)The Defender has the ability to choose a formation for his fleet at no extra cost, while the attacker must pay 50 meseta for this option.

24)Waypoints may be purchsed at 10 meseta per waypoint. NOTE: YOU MAY ONLY USE A WAYPOINT ONCE!

25)You may purchase and Aten Class Cruiser for 200 Meseta, and increase its damage 50 points per 1 meseta you give to retrofit said vehicle.
